Project: IS CURRENTLY IN PROCESS, FINAL CONCEPT HAS BEEN PRESENTED AND INSTALL IS OVER THE COMING MONTHS. A DESIGN FOR AN ACHROMTIC STYLED LOUNGE AREA, ENTRY AND LAUNDRY FOR A YOUNG COUPLE AND THEIR TWO YEAR OLD.

CLIENT BRIEF:

Create dramatic & aesthetically pleasing entry, utilised laundry room and a highly styled multi function lounge room.

Stick to an achromatic colour scheme, adding colour with deep & natural green. Use plenty of texture & dark tones to create a comfortable lounge room to prep for sleep, relaxation and that is also functional for work & play.

Indi style (must not look too Boho or Scandinavian).

Must have the ability to hide the fact that there are kids when desired. Ensure plenty of storage. Add essential furniture; TV unit, rug, lighting, coffee table.

Add life & greenery with lots of family photos, art, plants & fragrance.

Must be family friendly and make it scream personality.

Improve access to power points & add much needed lighting.

DESIGN OVERVIEW:

Indi; independent, not mainstream, obscure, a vision defined within ones own lifestyle, unique.

The colour pallet and style will really create that ‘warm and personalised’ feeling, with plenty of grey tones, gloss and matte blacks mixed in with crisp whites and plenty of texture.

A tiled entry will create a dramatic and different entrance, especially when teamed with the surface cylinder downlights and the ribbon hanger.

I have adapted the lighting placement and added dimmable downlights to make a multi-functional Lounge room and by moving the couch forward slight have improved access to the PowerPoint and helped ‘fill’ the room a bit more just by moving it 20cm.

The strong textures & continual subtle chances of tone help to create depth & flow within the room, a lot of straight lines paired with plenty of softness and reflective surfaces to bounce light.

The furniture has been chosen with a family in mind, most pieces having rounded edges to ensure the safety of young children.

The TV unit will provide plenty of storage with 2 draws and 4 cupboards for storage of remotes, toys, dvd, drink coasters ect. It also has unblocked access to the dvd player and austar box

Most pieces are Australian made and all have been sourced from Australian distributors (many local to Yarrawonga) with our longest lead time being 4 weeks

Plenty of greenery is scattered throughout the room to add life and fragrance. Abundant décor in the means of art, photos, quotes, candles and sentimental items brings out the Indi aesthetic. Overall we have created a life orientated & sleek space.

The project has gone $154 over the $5000 budget, however it was “flexible within reason” and the tiled feature wall is a very good reason!
